The most significant brain development occurs within the first three years of life! Approximately 80% of brain development is completed by age 3 and 90% by age 5, which is why early intervention is so critical to development when you suspect a delay or deficit. It is never too early to start incorporating language rich activities into daily routines. We also know that every child develops at a different rate and there is a wide range as to when language development will occur. Below are some charts that serve purely as a guideline for parents and caregivers. It is important to keep track of your child's development and express concerns if you feel they are falling behind, as you know your child the BEST and know what is best for them.
